For as long as there’ve been songs, there’ve been terrible cover songs. And for as long as there’s been Oasis, there’ve been buskers and drunks (the label is sometimes used interchangeably, I’m told) squawking to Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger.
Now, I don’t particularly like Oasis. In fact, I’m sure I’ve called the Gallaghers (Liam, especially) idiots on more than a couple of occasions. Nevertheless, for what it’s worth, when on form, I believe that they (Noel, especially) are capable of magic. Case in point: The Importance of Being Idle from the often (some might say “criminally”) overlooked Don’t Believe the Truth.
Oasis deserve their place in history. No doubt about that. What they do not deserve though are twats like Good Charlotte, Maroon 5 and those fuckers One Direction pissing on their legacy.
If you haven’t heard the One Direction cover of Wonderwall, well, don’t worry, the link’s below. I mean, I’m here to serve. Also, why should I be the only one to suffer?
Oh, and when you’re done with that godawful excuse of a band, why not scroll down the list and check out a few other terrible Oasis covers?
I’ve not listed them in order of best to worst or worst to best or worst to worst, ’cause they’re all pretty terrible but rest assured, the lack of numerals isn’t going to be your biggest complaint.
So yeah, sharing is caring, misery loves company and all that jazz.
